I\u2019ve been busy as usual \u2013 my brain though was totally blown into a different reality a few weeks back at the <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fourfoldhealing.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><font size=\"3\">Four Fold Path to Healing<\/font><\/a><font size=\"3\"> Conference in Oakland. Dr Tom Cowan is a total visionary when it comes to the healing arts. He re-examines and questions what we have been taught about health \u2013 how our body works and reframes healing into a very dynamic fluid and participatory lifestyle. Dr. Cowan, along with Sally Fallon and Jaimen McMillian put on an amazing and educational conference. I am still trying to process it all.<br \/>\nI spent the most time with <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newtrendspublishing.com\/SallyFallon\/\" target=\"_blank\"><font size=\"3\">Sally Fallon<\/font><\/a><font size=\"3\">\u00a0 in her seminars on nutrition modeled after traditional diets as researched by <\/font><a href=\"http:\/\/www.price-pottenger.org\/\" target=\"_blank\"><font size=\"3\">Dr. Weston A. Price<\/font><\/a><font size=\"3\">. In a nutshell, our modern health woes are directly related to our modern diet of refined foods. But \u2013 even further, Dr. Price\u2019s work and that of Sally Fallon (and Dr Mary Enig) asserts the modern premise that saturated fats are bad for our health is dead wrong \u2013 we need quality saturated fats from animal sources to maintain good health. Dr. Price\u2019s research, spanning 10 years and studying dozens of cultures, illustrated that people following traditional diets of whole foods had less disease.<br \/>\nThat\u2019s food for thought and worth lots of research hours. The biggest thing I took away from this conference is &#8211; feed your inner curious cat \u2013 question the establishment and find out what is really the truth when it comes to maintaining our own health and the health of our future generations. Let\u2019s stop giving our health away to others \u2013 come on\u2019 take back your health!<br \/>\nJust think about it \u2013 over 70 years ago (when heart disease was relatively rare), scientist and doctors told us that butter and animal fats were bad and we needed to switch to vegetable oils including the new fangled hydrogenated fats. As you recall from earlier posts, hydrogenated fats are THE source for trans fats in the modern diet. Today, the National Academies of Science\u2019s Institute of Medicine states that there is no safe level of trans fat in the diet.<br \/>\nSo really, what do we know for sure?
